While I’m taking a few weeks off to help my son recover from surgery, I’ve been doing a bit of reading and tidying-up my office. I came upon an article I had bookmarked some time ago that I think is incredibly informative regarding custom photography. I thought right now would be a good time to post the link here, given that August is the beginning of the busy Fall photography season and clients often have a lot of questions regarding custom photography. Of particular interest is the section on why custom photography costs more than, say, Sears Portrait Studio (a question that I am asked often.) This article does a great job pointing out the difference between studio franchise photography (your Targets, Walmarts, Picture People, etc.) and true custom portraiture.
