On a personal note…(Studio news)

Although I rarely post personal information on my blog, I am always eager to tell the story about my remarkable son, Alex. If you would like to learn more about him and his journey, you can check out Choices in Deafness (available at most libraries and book stores) and read the chapter I wrote about him. His battle with a debilitating motor neuron disease has taught me the true meaning of courage and dignity. He has touched so many lives and is truly an inspiration to everyone he meets (and I’d say that even if I wasn’t his mom.) ;-)

Choices in Deafness

Between February and March my son will be having three major surgeries which will require him to be home for about 8 to 10 weeks. I will still be taking clients during that time, but primarily weekend hours only. Anyone wanting weekday sessions should book between now and mid-February. I hope to resume a normal schedule by April, at which time I hope to sponsor a Special Needs month at the studio in honor of my son. For those of you working with Suzi Young at Camera Ready Kids, I am still open and available for your child’s acting/modeling headshots during the month of March, so please e-mail me if you’d like an appointment.

Thanks everyone for your support and well wishes.

Happy New Year!

Maryland family portraits (Ellicott City Photographer)

This gorgeous family came to me for their first family photos in 10 years. Although we were mostly confined to my studio due to the cold weather, you can see how incredibly close and loving this family is. Anyone who has come to me for portraits knows that I avoid posing my subjects and give minimal cues in an effort to bring out their true personality. I think this family did a great job being themselves in front of the camera.

Another reunion (Howard County Portraits)

Two children I photographed over the summer also returned last weekend for studio portraits with their parents (take a look at the flash header on top of my blog to see some shots from that session.) Last time I saw this little girl she was just sitting-up. Now she’s up and on the move!
